About

Welcome to St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School. We are located in the Centre Park Historic District of Reading. Our diverse cultures and faith unite us in service to God and others.  Our school educates students from pre-kindergarten through grade eight. St. Margaret School offers our students eleven years of continuous Catholic education.  Established in 1922 under the administration of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Margaret School remains committed to instilling Catholic values in a nurturing environment as is evidenced in our mission statement:

St. Margaret Catholic School, a ministry of St. Margaret Parish exists to educate the children of the parish and those who embrace our philosophy of educational excellence in the Catholic tradition through "Service to God and Others."  Guided by the Diocesan Curriculum, our students are empowered to excel in academics and to become active participants in society and the church.

St. Margaret School provides a caring family atmosphere for its students.  This is made possible because of the small student-to-teacher ratio, as well as the spiritual and financial support of our parish, parents, and the community.  We are a unique school and parish community that manifests a strong conviction in our faith by embracing diversity and a sense of love for one another. The spiritual needs of the students are nurtured through daily prayer, participation in school liturgies, reception of the sacraments, retreats, and parental involvement in sacramental preparation.  Our pastor's presence and support for the school attests to his dedication to Catholic education.

Our committed faculty provides the foundation for a true one-of-a-kind education that focuses on spiritual growth and academic excellence.  We are proud to offer an inclusive learning environment for all of our learners through the Aquinas Program. The Aquinas Program provides learning support to those who are assessed and diagnosed with learning disabilities. Special services are also provided through the BCIU for those who need support in reading and language skills. We also provide support for those for whom English is a second language (ESL). St. Margaret School offers many opportunities for our students to develop their God-given talents and to express their creativity in the arts. Students are encouraged to participate in various Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and school events/sports throughout the year. These include and are not limited to Basketball, Cross Country, Declamation, Spelling Bee, Kitchen Kapers, Children's Choir, and Art Contests.

To assist in the corporal needs of our families, we provide after-school care through our After Care Program as well as participate in the National School Lunch Program, a federally funded program designed to meet the nutritional needs of our students. We are also fortunate to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to our students each day through the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program.

Due to the many great advances made in technology, each classroom is equipped with the tools needed to mold our students into 21st-century learners. Each classroom has a Smartboard and access to Chromebooks. Our middle school classes (6-8) routinely use Chromebooks and a variety of digital resources to enhance their academic pursuits. Our learning management system, OptionC, allows our families the privilege to monitor grades at any time as well as receive digital communications.
